A Lesson In Wonder

A Lesson In Wonder

On a Tuesday afternoon three weeks ago, I walked into a classroom full of rowdy sixth graders.  'I'm Mr. Tomassi, and we're going to be studying Life Science,' I told them.  For the fourth time that day, I nearly introduced myself as ‘Patrick.’ It was my first day on that side of the classroom. I studied engineering in college, and never student-taught, and I was hired only a week before classes started.

Beauty and Education

Beauty and Education

"Our students live in an age which celebrates the relativity of all thought, and so they often invoke the relativistic mantra that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Yet, something is terribly wrong with that notion."  - This post is the third of three installments on truth, goodness, and beauty by Dr. Kerry Koller the President of Trinity Schools.

Goodness and Education

Goodness and Education

Cynicism is the great deception of our age says Paul Miller in his excellent book "A Praying Life." It offers the illusion of an enlightened mind that is suspicious of all appearances of sincerity and goodness because they are merely appearances. At Trinity Academy we are not naive to the effects of human weakness on our ability to do good but we are confident that excellence of character is possible and we should celebrate it when we see it. This post is the second of three installments on truth, goodness, and beauty by Dr. Kerry Koller the President of Trinity Schools. Next week we will publish his essay on beauty.

Truth and Education

Truth and Education

At Trinity Academy we have a motto that states "discovering truth, practicing goodness, and creating beauty." We believe with confidence that human beings can discover truth and articulate it to the service of the common good.. This post is the first of three installments on truth, goodness, and beauty by Dr. Kerry Koller the President of Trinity Schools. Next week we will publish his essay on goodness.
